Recently, our conservation team had the opportunity to treat the "Emancipation Inkwell," a glass and pewter inkwell long associated with Abraham Lincoln and the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. While the exact role the object played in that historic moment cannot be conclusively proven, its connection to the Lincoln family and its place in the story of Lincoln's presidency have made it an important artifact.
